At Entune Behavioral Health, we are proud to recognize the accomplishments of our clinicians both inside and outside the therapy room. Today, we are excited to celebrate Ashley Newman, MS, LAC, CCTP, whose passion for healing, education, and advocacy has recently led to another significant milestone: becoming a published author.

Ashley is a Licensed Associate Counselor and Certified Clinical Trauma Professional who specializes in working with adults and couples. She helps clients navigate trauma, anxiety, depression, life transitions, self-esteem challenges, identity development, and relationship concerns through a client-centered, holistic approach grounded in nervous system-informed care.
In addition to her clinical work at Entune Behavioral Health, Ashley recently published her first book, Safety Before Story: A Practical Guide to Nervous System Regulation, Trauma Recovery, and Lasting Emotional Healing. The book reflects many of the principles that inform her therapeutic approach, exploring the importance of nervous system regulation and the foundations of sustainable emotional recovery.

Believing that healing involves both the mind and the body, Ashley integrates somatic and trauma-informed approaches to help clients better understand their experiences, develop healthier coping strategies, and reconnect with their sense of self. Clients often appreciate her warm, nonjudgmental presence and collaborative style, which fosters a sense of safety while empowering them to create meaningful and lasting change.

This commitment to education and empowerment inspired Ashley’s recent journey as an author. Her newly published book reflects many of the values that guide her clinical work, offering readers practical insights, encouragement, and tools for personal growth and healing.
Through her clinical work and now through her writing, Ashley remains committed to helping people move beyond survival and toward greater connection, growth, and healing.

Congratulations, Ashley, on becoming a published author and on this incredible achievement! 🎉📚

Words from the Author

“My journey to becoming an author began in a place that is deeply meaningful to me: working alongside my clients.

Throughout my career, I often searched for books, worksheets, and coping skills resources that I could recommend to the individuals and couples I worked with. While many helpful resources existed, I frequently found myself wishing for materials that were more practical, more accessible, and easier to integrate into daily life. Over time, I began creating my own exercises, tools, and educational resources to address the needs I was seeing in session.

What started as a collection of handouts and therapeutic exercises gradually grew into something much larger. As clients used these materials, they provided valuable feedback, encouragement, and insight. Many shared that the concepts and approaches we were using felt different from what they had encountered in previous therapy, group counseling, or intensive outpatient programs, and that they found them easier to apply in their everyday lives. Their willingness to collaborate with me, offer constructive feedback, and trust the process played a significant role in shaping the work that eventually became this book.

At its core, this book reflects my belief that effective mental health tools should be accessible to as many people as possible. While therapy can be transformative, access to care is often limited by cost, availability, insurance barriers, or geographic location. I wanted to create a resource that could provide meaningful support both as a standalone tool and as a complement to individual therapy, group counseling, or intensive treatment programs.

The concepts in this book have been informed by years of clinical experience, research, and observation. I have been particularly inspired by the effectiveness of somatic approaches in helping people understand their nervous systems, heal from difficult experiences, and develop lasting stability. Again and again, I have witnessed how understanding the body’s natural protective responses can reduce shame, increase self-compassion, and create meaningful opportunities for growth.

My hope is that readers will come away with practical tools, greater self-understanding, and a stronger sense of confidence in their ability to navigate life’s challenges. Healing does not have to feel out of reach. When we learn how to work with our minds and bodies rather than against them, growth becomes more attainable and sustainable.

This book is the first in what I hope will become a larger series dedicated to making evidence-informed healing tools available to a wider audience. I am grateful to the many clients who helped inspire this work, and I look forward to continuing to learn, grow, and share these resources with others in the years ahead.”
